This website is being rebuilt to provide gardeners and orchardists in coastal British Columbia with science-based ways to successfully grow fruit trees in our high rainfall coastal climate. We can grow an amazing range of fruit trees in this area, however, there are few commercial orchards in this area for good reasons. Around the world, large plantings of temperate fruit trees are typically in areas of low rainfall, usually less than 15″ annually. Rainfall in most areas of Coastal British Columbia recieve 50″ – 60″ of annual rainfall. A few areas such as the Gulf Islands recieve as low as 40″ of Annual rainfall.
